Scripture: Joshua 9:20  (KJV)

This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we swore unto them.

Observation:

The children of Israel entered into relationship with the Gibeonites without the Lord’s counsel.  Although the Gibeonites were viewed as enemies, they came on board out of fear for their lives.  So the children of Israel made covenant with them before asking God.  God did not and could not allow the Israelites to kill this enemy; even after they found out they were enemies, because of the covenant that was made.

Application:

A lot of times we schedule things, create relationships that we didn’t pray about, but when that specific thing is exposed we have to live with it.

Prayer:

Lord, build diligence in me for communicating with you before I perform a task.
